Abstract

Abstract

God has gifted humanity a perfect book in its legislation, beauty, words, meanings and styles that affect readers emotionally as the Quranic verse stresses, “Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah.”

Children and youths today cannot be restricted to one cultural environment or limited to one pattern of education due to the boundless reach of media and communication technology. Today, we need to return to the Quran that has taught mankind and achieved the goals of Islam, especially through its affective discourse that has penetrated hearts and led people to knowledge and faith. Allah encouraged us to use the Quran, “And tell My servants to say that which is best” and “Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better.” This paper seeks to understand and employ the behavioural motivational discourse of the Quran in education and in motivating creative productive thinking. The paper uses a descriptive comparative approach to answer this question; how does the affective discourse of the Quran influence thinking and creativity education in our modern context? By answering this question, the paper reaches important conclusions on education in the Quran and on relating it to teaching creativity.

Keywords: Affective discourse, the Quran, thinking, creativity education, youths, generations.
