About the Journal

at-Tajdid was established in 1997 as the flagship journal of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and is recognized as the first refereed journal published in Arabic in Southeast Asia. It is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing scholarly discourse in Islamic studies. From its inception in 1997 until 2020, the journal was published biannually in June and December. Beginning in 2021, its publication cycle shifted to January and July.
