Removing the doubts from the Hadith on the Creation of life in Seven Days

الملخص

Abstract

Hadith al-Turbah – on the creation of life in seven days – is among the popular hadith that was disputed in terms of its authenticity until now. The hadith mentioned that Allah SWT had created the earth on Saturday, the mountains on Sunday, the trees on Monday, the undesired things on Tuesday, the light on Wednesday, He spread the earth with animals on Thursday and created Adam on Friday after the ‘Asar. This is contrary to many of the Quranic verses in that stated that the creation of heaven and earth was in six days. Consequently, this has resulted in dispute among the scholars; some discredited its content for being false of which was later argued against by some other group of scholars. This article aims to argue with a new perspective that the content of the hadith is not false since claiming that there was no contradiction between the content of the hadith and the Quranic verses; the hadith even supported the meaning of the Quran in this regard. This is by formulating the understanding that the number of days in the hadith was also six about its duration. Therefore, it is hoped that this would be able to clear the doubts surrounding the hadith.

Abstrak

Hadith “Turbah” yang mencatatkan bahawa Penciptaan kejadian pada tujuh hari adalah hadith yang terkenal yang berlaku khilaf tentang kesahihannya dari dulu hingga kini. Teks hadith menyatakan bahawa Allah swt menjadikan tanah/bumi pada hari Sabtu, gunung pada hari Ahad, tumbuh-tumbuhan pada hari Isnin, perkara-perkara yang dibenci pada hari Selasa, cahaya pada hari Rabu, penciptaan haiwan melata pada hari Khamis, penciptaan Adam selepas Asar pada hari Jumaat. Hadith ini berlainan pada zahirnya dengan ayat-ayat Al-Quran, yang menyatakan kejadian langit dan bumi dan apa di antaranya dalam masa enam hari. Maka, hadith ini menjadi titik perbahasan dikalangan para ulama’. Ada yang mengatakan bahawa teks hadith ini tidak sahih dan ada pula yang mengatakan ianya sahih kerana jawapan yang kuat dan menyakinkan. Kajian ini cuba untuk menyokong kata-kata bahawa hadith ini sahih melalui pendekatan baru dalam makna hadith yang menerangkan ianya tidak bertentangan dan selari dengan Al-Quran dengan penerangan yang hari tersebut dalam hadith itu juga enam berdasarkan perhitungan. Moga-moga kajian ini menjawab keraguan dan persoalan tentang hadith ini.
