تحاول هذه الدراسة إلقاء بعض الأضواء على ظاهرتي التباعد والتقارب بين العالم الإسلامي والغرب، كما تحلل المحاولات المبذولة منذ أحداث الحادي عشر من سبتمبر 2001م في اتجاه كلّ منهما وانعكاساتهما على العلاقة بين العالمين الإسلاميّ والغربي سياسيًّا واجتماعيًّا واقتصاديّا. ثم تنتقل إلى محاولة استشراف مستقبل العلاقة بين العالمين، وتنتهي بجملة من المقترحات التي قد تساعد في المستقبل على بناء جسور لردم الهوة العميقة بين العالم الإسلاميّ والغربي التي أحدثتها الأفكار التباعدية من الجانبين.

Abstract

The present study attempts to shed some lights on the aspects of rapprochement as well as disagreement and aloofness between the Muslim world and the West. It also analyzes the efforts made in both directions since September 2001 and their political, social and economic implcations for both worlds. The study then moves on to look into the prospects of the relationship between the Muslim world and the West. Finally it ends with putting forth a set of suggestions that may help bridge the profound gap beteen both worlds that has been created by belligerent ideas on both sides.

              Abstrak

Kajian ini tertumpu kepada beberapa aspek pemulihan hubungan baik dan ketegangan yang berlaku antara dunia Islam dan Barat sejak Peristiwa 11 September, 2001 dan implikasinya kepada aspek politik, sosial dan ekonomi antara kedua-duanya. Kajian ini juga  melihat prospek hubungan antara dunia Islam dan Barat. Di akhirnya beberapa cadangan dikemukakan untuk merapatkan jurang perbezaan antara kedua-dua dunia Islam dan barat akibat dari pertembungan idea antara kedua belah pihak.
