Abstract

This paper examines simple and complex plots in Saudi poetry as plots are usually the focal point in any literary narrative structure. Taking poetics that includes imagination, emotion, suggestiveness, deviation and condensation as a departure point, the paper details dramatic aspects of plots that focus on omniscient narration, limited narration and first-person narration. The paper chooses Ghazi  Al-Qusaybi and Saud Al-Sa'idi as both have written novels and poems. The narrative techniques of their novels were reflected in their poems. The paper employs an analytical approach that confirms the poetic nature of narrative literary texts.

Keywords: Plot, Saudi poetry, Narration, Poetics.
