Abstract

This study deals with the current efforts aimed at introducing an Islamic worldview into contemporary university education in Malaysia. The researcher discusses and critically evaluates the experience of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and the literature generated through that experience. The analysis emphasizes that the distinction of the Malaysian experience results from its adherence to a stringent process of development of scholary awareness of the Islamic worldview through a pedagogy that articulates several revelation-based modules and Islamic heritage readings, through a critical methodology open to all human knowledge in the new sciences. The study identifies three streams of application followed in the IIUM since its establishment 1983 until the beginning of the new millennium. The researcher underlines certain practical mishaps resulting from the attempts of adopting the notion of integration of knowledge and dual specialization, and draws the attention to the necessity of developing specializations and study sequences that effectively translate the uniqueness of the experience of integration of the revealed knowledge and the human sciences. The researcher suggests, some approaches to achieve the development of such specializations and sequences.

تعنى هذه الدراسة بتحليل الوضع الراهن لمسارات تفعيل الرؤية الإسلامية للعالم في التعليم الجامعي المعاصر في التجربة الماليزية. وقد اتبع الباحث منهج التحليل النقدي لتجربة الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية بماليزيا، والأدبيات ذات الصلة بموضوع الدراسة. وقد أظهرت عملية التحليل أن تميز التجربة الماليزية يتحدد في التزامها بفكرة تعميق وعي الطالب الجامعي بمعالم الرؤية الإسلامية من خلال تدريس عدد من المساقات في مجال معارف الوحي والقراءات التراثية وفق منهجية ناقدة ومنفتحة على الخبرة الإنسانية المبثوثة في العلوم الحديثة، وقد أتخذ تطبيق تلك الفكرة ثلاثة مسارات بتلك الجامعة منذ تأسيسها في العام 1983م وإلى مطلع الألفية الثالثة. وقد نبه الباحث إلى بعض الإشكالات العملية المترتبة على محاولة الجمع بين فكرة التكامل المعرفي والتخصص المزدوج، كما نبه إلى أهمية أن تترجم المساقات المشتركة التي يدرسها كل الطلاب في تجربة تلك الجامعة جوهر فكرة التكامل المعرفي، لا أن تنحصر فقط في معارف تخاطب السلوك وتربي الوجدان في المقام الأول، وذلك يتطلب إعادة النظر ومراجعة مكون المساقات المشتركة وفق أسس ذكرها الباحث في موضعها من الدراسة.
