IMJM Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The IIUM Medical Journal Malaysia (IMJM) permits the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in research and manuscript preparation, in alignment with Islamic ethical principles and IIUM regulations.

Authors must:

  • Clearly disclose any use of AI tools in their manuscript.

  • State the name and purpose of the AI tool(s) used.

  • Obtain relevant ethics approval for AI-related research, where applicable.

  • Ensure AI methods are transparent, explainable, and free from bias.

  • Comply with IIUM’s research ethics, data governance, and intellectual property policies.

AI tools must not be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of their work.

Failure to comply may result in rejection, retraction, or other corrective action.
