Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it considered for any other journal.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. For Arabic the font (traditional Arabic) size: 16.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in ensuring a blind review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

Articles submitted to the Journal of Islam in Asia should be prepared in accordance with the latest edition of the APA Style. Articles should be between 5000-7000 words. Conference and book reviews should be between 1000-1500 words in length. Authors are advised to submit their articles through the Open Journals System, accompanied by an abstract of 100-150 words. English articles should have the title, abtract and keywords in English and Malay language. Arabic articles should have the title, abtract and keywords in Arabic, English and Malay language. Malay articles should have the title, abstract and keywords in Malay and English language. The articles submitted should be in the format of Microsoft Word document. Author’s name and institutional affiliation should appear on the title page but not anywhere else in the article so as to facilitate blind reviewing.

In terms of formatting the articles, English and Malay articles should use 12-point AHT Times New Romans font for text and 10-point for footnotes. For Arabic articles, authors should use 16-point Traditional Arabic font and 12-point for footnotes. Arabic, SharÊ‘ah, Qur’Én and Sunnah terms should be properly transliterated. For Arabic articles, the references section should be in transliterated form.
