Peer Review Process

IIUM Journal of Religion and Civilisational Studies (IJRCS) follows a double-blind reviewing process; the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept hidden from each other throughout the process. The peer review process of IJRCS can be summarised in several steps below:

  1. After receiving submission from a corresponding author, the Editor-in-Chief will make an assessment with regards to the scope, quality, and originality of the article. The article can be rejected at this step. If accepted, it goes to the next step.
  2. The Editor-in-Chief assigns an editor to process the article.
  3. The assigned editor sends requests to two reviewers to review the article.
  4. When the reviewers accept the request, they conduct the review within a stipulated period of time.
  5. When the results of the review are submitted by the reviewers, the editor will appraise them. If the results are very different, the editor may request another reviewer to get a better evaluation.
  6. When the review process is complete, the editor will inform the corresponding author about the comments and suggestions made by the reviewers and the decision of the Journal.
  7. If accepted for publication, the article is sent to production.
