About the Journal

INTRODUCTION

The IIUM Journal of Human Sciences is a peer-reviewed biannual (February and July Issues, from 2019 onwards) journal dedicated to publishing high-quality scientific articles. It is aimed at academics and researchers who seek to disseminate their research findings and discover knowledge in the areas of behavioural sciences or human sciences. It is also an avenue for postgraduate researchers to publish their research works, hence contributing to the development of human science disciplines and their applications.

Authors are invited to submit their articles, book review reports on conferences and seminars, and abstracts from Master’s and Doctoral theses related to the area of human sciences in English. Each journal article will be subjected to a review process involving first reading by the IJOHS editorial team, followed by two reviewers in the field, a language assessor, and a proofreader.

OBJECTIVES OF IJOHS

IJOHS aims to facilitate the dissemination of knowledge on issues related to the study of human sciences. It provides a publication avenue for academics and postgraduate researchers in the human science disciplines: Anthropology, Communication, Language and Literature, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology.

AREA OF COVERAGE

The scope of IJOHS covers both Western scientific approaches and Islamic perspectives on studying human sciences in the disciplines of Anthropology, Communication, Language and Literature, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. The Journal is also interested in publishing comparative approaches and diversified themes in the disciplines. The article must be submitted in English.

Peer Review Process: All submissions will be subjected to a double-blinded peer-review process (neither authors nor reviewers know each other's names or affiliations), except for those under the category of 'Letter to Editor'. The Editorial team will review the latter.

Each submission will go through this process:

  • Technical, content, and plagiarism screening (only articles with a similarity index of less than 25% will proceed with the peer-review process).
  • Double-blind review
  • Revision by the author if required
  • Editor screening/decision
  • Acceptance and publication
