Abstract

Arun volunteers occasionally for a non-governmental organisation (NGO) between classes and spends his time reading books in his room. When the NGO invited him to participate in a new unfamiliar task, he hesitantly agreed. Arun’s new quest with the NGO will explore the meaning of volunteerism by understanding the motivation and the processes of adapting with the environment while volunteering. This case also provides a practical illustration of the detailed operation and layout for managing a charity event organised by the NGO with volunteers as important team members. In such event, workplace culture and rapport are essential in achieving the organisational goal.
