Firmly grounded in the tenets of Islamic values and deeply rooted in the vibrant Minang ethnic culture, this humble enterprise showcases an awe-inspiring journey of resilience and determination. Witness the remarkable devotion with which they navigate the ever-evolving challenges brought about by rapid urbanization. Despite the encroachment of concrete jungles and the allure of modern amenities, they remain resolute in preserving their ancestral ties to the land. While upholding their treasured traditions, they skill-fully merge the wisdom of the past with the innovations of the present. Furthermore, in an era dominated by the digital age, Cergas Subuh Enterprise fearlessly embraces technology, leveraging its power to expand their reach and connect with a broader customer base. By effectively harnessing the potential of online platforms and social media, they ingeniously showcase their products while preserving the authentic essence of their Minang heritage. Author Biographies

Suhaimi Mhd Sarif, International Islamic University Malaysia

Suhaimi Mhd Sarif has been a Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences Lecturer at  the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) since 2000. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2012 and to Professor in 2021. He obtained his BBA from IIUM, MBA in Management from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Ph.D. in Commerce from Murdoch University, Australia. He teaches and researches strategy, Islamic management, knowledge management, social entrepreneurship, and business ethics. He is associated with the Islamic perspectives working committees with SIRIM, the national organisation for standards and quality in the Malaysian industry. Suhaimi is currently editor-in-chief of the Academy of Entrepreneurship Journal (AEJ) (a SCOPUS-indexed journal) and Web Section Editor of IIUM Journal on Integration of Knowledge. He was associate editor of IIUM International Journal of Economics and Management Sciences (IJEMA) (a SCOPUS-indexed journal) and the World Academy of Islamic Management (WAIM)’s Journal of Islamic Management Studies (JIMS). He is the past Academic Staff Association (ASA) President, of IIUM.

Yusof Ismail, International Islamic University Malaysia

Yusof Ismail has been a senior academic in the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences at International Islamic University Malaysia since 1986. He earned his accountancy diploma from MARA Institute of Technology, the predecessor of the current UiTM, before working with Bank Negara Malaysia, the Malaysian Central Bank. He pursued his BS in Finance and MBA in Management and Marketing from business schools in the USA, and embarked on research into strategy in the UK. He teaches and researches strategy, Islamic management, human resource management, and business ethics.  He has been associated with the Islamic perspectives of standards in the technical committee and working committees of SIRIM, the national organisation for standards and quality in the Malaysian industry. Yusof was a member of the editorial board of the first issue of the precursor of the current International Journal of Economics and Management Sciences (IJEMA), Currently, Yusof is a committee member of PESUAM, the retirees’ association of IIUM staff.
