About the Journal

  • Introduction

Chemical and Natural Resources Engineering Journal keeps researchers with current and the latest developments in chemical and natural resources-based product as well as the related engineering fields that push the product from the bench to the commercial scale. It is indeed a multidisciplinary research which blends science and engineering and enhances hand-in-hand collaboration between the two fields.  The Chemical And Natural Resources Engineering Journal will cover areas such as Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Molecular Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Materials, Green Nanotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering, Biomanufacturing, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Food Engineering, Sustainability, Circular Economy, and Green Energy. A manuscript undergoes a double-blind review process. 

The Chemical and Natural Resources Engineering Journal publishes full-length articles, short communications and welcomes review articles in the fields mentioned above especially those highlighting the latest technology.

 

  • Publication Frequency 

The CNREJ will be published biannually in June and December, is a peer-reviewed open-access journal of the Kulliyah of Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

 

  • Journal Policy

The manuscript must represent original work by the author(s). None of the material should be covered by any copyright; if copyrighted material exceeding approximately 100 words from a journal article or approximately 500 words from a book is used, the author has obtained written permission for its use. Further, this work should not infringe any intellectual property rights/secrecy laws of any person/organization/government/public or private agency, nor should it contain any defamatory matter.

IIUM Press does not bear any responsibility for verifying copyright permissions provided by the author. Any breach of copyright laws will result in retraction of the published article/material as well as reporting to relevant authorities at the authors' institutions.

 

  • Language Policy

The journal accepts manuscripts written in English only. Authors are highly encouraged to send their manuscript for professional English proofreading or editing prior to submission. This is to avoid situations whereby reviewers decline to review because the English is not up to standard. 

 

  • Plagiarism Policy

All articles submitted to this journal will be checked using Turnitin plagiarism detection software.

 

  • CNREJ Privacy Statement

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

  • Editors team responsibilities

The Editorial Committee aims to shape the scientific journal environment such as ethical publishing practices, inform those involved in the editorial process, and foster informed decision-making by editors so the integrity of our publications is upheld. 

The responsibilities of the editorial team include:

  • Evaluating manuscripts wholly based on their merit.
  • Uphold academic integrity and carry out their duties without any discrimination whatsoever.
  • Protecting the privacy of the data and of authors and reviewers.
  • To not have any conflict of interest regarding the manuscripts accepted/rejected.
  • Monitoring and ensuring that the editorial process is prompt, fair and thorough.
  • Willing to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when needed.
  • Taking reasonable and prompt measures when there are complaints of any nature.

 

  • Reviewers' responsibilities
  • To review the manuscript objectively and timely, inform the editor of a suitable decision and to uphold the quality of articles published in the journal. 
  • To maintain strict confidentiality of any information supplied to the reviewer in the review process by the editor or author and ensure that the manuscript is for the reviewer eyes only and no copies are  transmitted or kept. 
  • To inform the editor of suspected plagiarism or absence of relevant published work which has not been cited. To avoid any potential conflicts of interests between the author and the reviewer and inform the editor of all developments. 

 

  • Author's Guidelines 

The instructions which are as follows are specifically for those who are interested in submitting a manuscript to the Chemical and Natural Resources Engineering Journal (CNREJ). Chemical and Natural Resources Engineering Journal considers all manuscripts on the strict condition that they have been submitted only to Chemical and Natural Resources Engineering Journal, that they have not been published before, nor are they under consideration for publication or in press elsewhere. Authors who fail to adhere to this condition, their papers will not be published. 

Contributions to Chemical and Natural Resources Engineering Journal must report original research or review paper and will be subject to review by referees at the discretion of the Editorial Office.

 

  • Procedures for dealing with unethical behaviour

Identification of unethical behaviour

  • If any misconduct or unethical behaviour is reported to the editor or publisher at any time. The information and identity of the complainant shall be treated with strict confidentiality.
  • In case of any report of misconduct or unethical behavior, sufficient information and evidence should be provided in order for an investigation to be conducted. All allegations shall be taken seriously and treated fairly.

Investigation

  • The editor shall make an initial decision. He may consult with or seek advice from the publisher/editorial board, if appropriate.
  • Evidence shall be gathered, while maintaining the strictest confidentiality at all times.

Minor breaches

  • A minor misconduct might be dealt appropriately by the editor himself. The author shall be given the opportunity to respond to any allegations.

Serious breaches

  • In case of serious misconduct, the editor, in consultation with the publisher/editorial board/experts, should make a decision on a suitable action, depending on the severity of the offence.

Outcomes (in increasing order of severity, to be applied separately or together)

  • Informing or educating the author or reviewer in case of a misunderstanding of acceptable standards.
  • A warning letter be issued to the author or reviewer found culpable of the misconduct.
  • Publication of a formal notice with details of the misconduct.
  • Publication of an editorial with details of the misconduct.
  • A formal letter to the head of the author's or reviewer's employers or funding agency.
  • Formal retraction or withdrawal of a publication from the journal altogether, including informing, Abstracting & Indexing services and the readership of the publication.
  • Barring on contributions from an author or reviewer for a defined period.
  • Reporting the case and outcome to a professional organisation / higher authority for further investigation and action.
