Abstract

This bibliometric review explores sustainable agriculture and food security through an Islamic lens, emphasizing the integration of Islamic values with ecological sustainability, social justice, and food resilience. Using Scopus as the primary data source, the study analyzed 44 relevant articles published from 2012 to 2024. VOSviewer was employed to map key authors, institutions, countries, and thematic trends. Malaysia and Indonesia are identified as major contributors, with strong collaboration among scholars and institutions. Core research themes include environmental stewardship, ethical food systems, and the roles of religious values in sustainable agricultural practices. Frequent keywords such as “Islam,” “Sustainability,” and “Food Security” highlight a multidisciplinary approach that connects Islamic principles with environmental and social sciences. Notably, works by Abdelzaher et al. (2008) and Tieman and Hassan (2015) are widely co-cited for their focus on Islamic ecological frameworks. The review suggests that integrating Islamic sustainability principles into policy could strengthen food security and address major environmental challenges.

Keywords: Islamic framework, Sustainable agriculture, Food security.
