Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • As part of the submission process, authors must confirm that their manuscript meets all the following requirements. Submissions that do not comply will be returned without review.

    • Article Processing Charges (APC): For accepted manuscripts, the APC is USD 70 for international authors and RM 300 for Malaysian authors. Payment is only required upon acceptance of the article.

    • Manuscript Format: The manuscript must be in Microsoft Word format and follow the journal’s official template. All tables must be created using the Table function in Word. Tables submitted as images will lead to immediate desk rejection.

    • Publication Status: The manuscript must be original and not under review by any other publication. Duplicate submissions will be rejected.

    • Ethical Agreement Form: Authors must upload the completed Ethical Agreement Form at the time of submission, if any. Submissions without this document will be desk-rejected.

    • Author Information: All authors’ full names, affiliations, and country of origin must be entered accurately during the submission. No changes or additions to author details are allowed after the review process begins. Incomplete author information may result in rejection or omission from the final publication.

    • Reviewer Suggestions: Authors are encouraged to propose at least two potential reviewers, including their full name, affiliation, email address, and country.

    • Editorial Note: Authors should include a brief cover note to the editor highlighting the article’s focus and relevance.

    • Similarity Report: After submission, the editorial team will conduct a similarity check. The overall similarity index must be below 20%, and the AI-detected similarity should not exceed 30%. Authors are also encouraged to submit the similarity report beforehand.

Authors are advised to review the article type descriptions and select the most suitable category for their submission. If unsure, please classify your manuscript as a Research Article and follow the structure outlined below.

  • Other topics related to Islamic Finance

Note: Review papers are accepted by invitation only.

Research articles should be organised using the following structure:

  • Discussion
  • Conclusions
  • Acknowledgements
  • References (Maximum of 20)
  • Figure Legends (if applicable)
  • Tables with Captions (if applicable)

Author can refer to the template of Journal of Islamic Finance (JIF) to follow its format. In general, the following is the paper format for the journal.

The submission file is in Microsoft Word document.
Articles should be between 5000-10000 words in length, including abstract, tables, figures, references and appendices.

Name of the Author and the Affiliation must not be on the paper.

Abstract

Submission Guidelines for Abstracts

All submissions must include a structured abstract that adheres to the format outlined below. The following four sub-headings and their corresponding explanations must always be included:

Purpose: Clearly state the objective and rationale of the study.

Design/methodology/approach: Describe the methods and approaches used in the research.

Findings: Summarize the key results and conclusions of the study.

Originality: Highlight the unique contributions of the research to the field.

Any word or words to be abbreviated should be written in full when first mentioned followed by the abbreviation in parentheses.

 

References

 The referencing style of the manuscript should strictly follow the style adopted by the journal (based on APA - American Psychological Association style).  The list should be in alphabetical order. Author(s) are to ensure submission of manuscript is according to the format specified.
