About the Journal
INTRODUCTION
The Journal of Planetary Survival (JoPS) is an international, multi and transdisciplinary, peer-reviewed biannual (May and November) scholarly journal managed by the Institute of Planetary Survival for Sustainable Well-being (PLANETIIUM), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). The journal provides a platform for advancing knowledge and fostering interdisciplinary exchange in Planetary Health, with a focus on the interconnected challenges affecting the health, resilience, and sustainability of human populations, ecosystems, and the planet.
The JoPS adopts a systems-based and solutions-oriented approach that integrates perspectives across disciplines to advance understanding of contemporary planetary health challenges. The journal publishes high-quality original research and scholarly contributions that demonstrate methodological rigor, conceptual depth, and relevance to sustainable solutions. It encourages research that connects scientific knowledge, philosophical perspectives, and practice to support evidence-informed decision-making, responsible innovation, ecological resilience, and sustainable well-being.
AREA OF COVERAGE
The JoPS welcomes original research articles, review articles, perspectives, technical notes, tutorials, and invited commentaries addressing, but not limited to, the following areas:
- Biodiversity: Biodiversity conservation, ecosystem resilience, species interactions, habitat restoration, invasive species, and environmental impacts on biological diversity.
- Food Security: Sustainable food production and aquaculture, resilient food systems, nutrition security, alternative food sources, and innovative approaches to food availability and accessibility.
- Climate Action: Climate change mitigation and adaptation, carbon management, renewable energy, climate resilience, nature-based solutions, and disaster risk reduction.
- Health Empowerment: Public health, disease prevention, health equity, community well-being, and approaches that empower communities to build healthier and more sustainable societies.
- Spirituality and Well-being: Interdisciplinary perspectives on spirituality, values, ethics, human well-being, and their relevance to planetary health and sustainable living.
The JoPS aims to serve as a global scholarly platform for cross-disciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange, contributing to integrated approaches to planetary survival, ecological resilience, and sustainable well-being for present and future generations.
