IMPLEMENTING DIGITAL FACULTY PORTFOLIO BY INTERVENTION MAPPING MODEL

Abstract

The Digital Faculty Portfolio (DFP) is an extension of the traditional teaching portfolio. Where teaching portfolios focus solely on teaching and classroom responsibilities, a DFP also includes information on other areas of professional responsibility such as, research, administration, mentorship, committee service, community outreach, etc. The DFP therefore represents a more comprehensive view even than a teaching portfolio, enabling faculty members to document and coordinate all their activities and expanding the scope of the evaluation and promotion process used by administrators. The aims of this project are threefold: first, to test the DFP concept and determine whether faculty find it useful; second, to provide a platform for integrating faculty activities including both teaching and extracurricular activities; and third, to identify key technical details that need to be addressed before a largerscale DFP platform can be created. We employed a six-phase process through an intervention mapping protocol to address these aims.
