Author Biography

Florence Howe, City University of New York, USA

Florence Howe, who began a teaching career in 1951, was in 1970 a founder of The Feminist Press, since 1985 at the City University of New York, where she was also a professor of English at the Graduate Center. She has been responsible for publishing several thousand "lost" women writers in the US and around the world, including many hundreds in the volumes of Women Writing Africa and Women Writing in India. She has written or edited more than a dozen books and more than a hundred essays. Her most recent book is a memoir, A Life in Motion. She often writes blogs posted on her website: www.florencehowe.com.
