Submissions are invited on the various authors and different aspects of Bangladeshi Literature in English, spanning from the British colonial period to the present. Possible topics and areas of focus may include, but are not restricted to:
– Bangladeshi writers in English in the pre-1947 era
– Bangladeshi writers in English in the 1947–1971 era
– Bangladeshi writers in English in the post–1971 era
– The emerging, younger generation Bangladeshi writers in English
– Creative writings in the English dailies and periodicals of Bangladesh
– Self-translation between Bangla and English in the Bangladeshi literary tradition
– Creative writing in English among the Bangladeshi diaspora
– Independence/Liberation movements (1947 & 1971)
– The rural-urban divide
– Tradition and modernity
– Gender and work in Bangladesh
– Religion and culture
– Migration (internal and international)

 

Submission Instructions

The Journal of Postcolonial Writing invites original and insightful essays that cover some of the issues mentioned above, or any other important facets and dimensions of BLE. It also seeks to showcase original literary pieces and so encourages creative writers of Bangladeshi origin to submit their unpublished English works.
Abstracts of 250-300 words along with six keywords and authors’ brief research biographies (85 words) are due by January 31, 2021.
