The Wedding Things is a conceptual multi sided digital platform that includes web-based applications that offering resources online where customers and users can use to plan their perfect wedding day or any big event such as family event, program or corporate event. It also includes organizing and designing the event with the guidance of the planner. Besides, this web-based application will be developed mainly to focus and minimize the customer budget especially for engaged couples. This digital platform business model of the wedding planner not only provides consultation from the planner but also provides many essential services for customers to choose. It is because the website not only has a planner but also connects with other service providers to make it easier for the customer to choose the product and services they want which suit their preference. In this business case paper, the researcher has conducted a survey to get more details about customer’s preference, jobs, pains, gains and agreement to align with their need and business services.
2023-06-05T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Information Systems and Digital Technologies https://journals.iium.edu.my/kict/index.php/jisdt/article/view/348 THE IMPACT OF HEALTH BELIEFS AND SELF-EFFICACY ON INTENTIONS TO SEEK ONLINE HEALTH INFORMATION AMONG WOMEN IN UGANDA 2023-01-18T11:01:54+08:00 HARIMA NALUGWA halimah.nalugwa@gmail.com MIRA KARTIWI mira@iium.edu.my
The present internet revolution has opened a new avenue in healthcare where individuals now primarily refer to the Internet for health-related information searches. This shift from traditional methods of looking for health information has been prevalent among women. Many studies have uncovered the factors that trigger women's intentions to look for health-related information online. Meanwhile, empirical investigations on factors influencing African women's behavioral intentions to search for health-related information on the Internet are rare. It is imperative to investigate such factors due to social, economic, and technological differences among women populations in advanced and developing nations. Thus the urgency of this study. Therefore, this study examined the influence of health belief factors and self-efficacy on women's intentions to seek health-related information. An online survey questionnaire was employed to collect the required data, and the Smart PLS3.0 was used to execute the structural equation modeling technique to evaluate the hypothesized relationships in the study. The findings indicate that the triggers of intentions for women in Uganda to look for health-related information on the Internet include internet navigation skills and concern over their general well-being (health consciousness). It is interesting to note, however, the perceived susceptibility and severity to chronic illnesses did not affect the intentions of women to look for online health-related information. This study is the first of its nature in the Sub-Saharan region. Although online health information research is still in its infancy in Uganda, it provides imperative inputs for policymakers to offer befitting interventions on health information-seeking skills and knowledge in the community.
2023-06-05T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Information Systems and Digital Technologies https://journals.iium.edu.my/kict/index.php/jisdt/article/view/346 UNDERSTANDING THE DETERMINANTS OF CRYPTOCURRENCIES ADOPTION AMONG YOUNG MALAYSIANS 2022-10-18T20:01:31+08:00 AKEEM OLOWOLAYEMO akeem@iium.edu.my ABDALLAH SAIDI MPAWENIMANA asmpawenimana@unimas.my SEIK YNG TANG jayceetang.sharp.bitz@gmail.com NAFISAH ADEWALE umusalman@gmail.com ADAM ANDANI MOHAMMED maandani@unimas.my
Currently around the world and especially in Malaysia, digital currencies are still in their nascent stage, especially among university students. Several groups like government establishments, the business community, and young generations among others have started to take considerable interest in the use of digital currencies for different forms of transactions. However, the potential of cryptocurrencies has not been entirely exploited to its fullest. This study examined the impact of digital currency adoption on the Malaysian economy through a quantitative design using an online survey. The population for this study includes young, educated people in Malaysia, specifically undergraduates and young graduates. This research evaluates Malaysian university students' and young graduates’ awareness and usage of cryptocurrencies as well as the challenges envisaged by various strata of users regarding the impact of digital currency adoption on the economy and the future of banking and money. The findings show that statistically significant positive relationships exist between the dependent variable (Intention to use Cryptocurrencies) and all independent variables of the study, (namely, awareness, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, perceived trustworthiness as well as perceived risk), and the dependent variable, intention to use (IU) (with correlation coefficient r-values of 0.106 and 0.164 with the p-value is 0.000 and significance level of 0.01). The study therefore concludes that the potential of cryptocurrencies invading the global market, despite the advantages of cryptocurrencies, is yet to be widely accepted among Malaysians.
2023-06-05T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Information Systems and Digital Technologies https://journals.iium.edu.my/kict/index.php/jisdt/article/view/345 RANDOM FOREST-BASED CLASSIFIER FOR AUTOMATIC SARCASM CLASSIFICATION ON TWITTER DATA USING MULTIPLE FEATURES 2022-09-01T14:23:45+08:00 Christopher Eke ciekecsc@gmail.com Azah Anir Norman azahnorman@um.edu.my Liyana Shuib liyanashuib@um.edu.my Fatokun Faith B. evangfatoks@gmail.com Zalizah Awang Long zalizah@unikl.edu.my
Sarcasm is one of the nonliteral languages usually employed in social networks and microblogging websites to convey implicit information in an individual communication message. Misinformation and social inequality have hindered nations from preparing for unprecedented crises such as the Covid-19 pandemic. The use of technology has enabled businesses, individuals, and governments to combat Covid-19. Containing and measuring global crises such as Coronavirus will require a critical assessment of technological developments. The Covid-19 dashboard developed by the Saudi Ministry of Health (MOH) is assessed and evaluated in this paper. A scope review of published and unpublished documents was conducted. The Saudi Arabia’s MOH provides figures, graphs, and statistics. The researcher found that clicking one button provides access to critical information, enabling individuals to understand how the disease spreads around the country. The Saudi MOH's Covid-19 dashboard provided accurate, reliable, and current Coronavirus information. Covid-19 information is effectively communicated through technology. With the help of data visualization, many citizens can better understand COVID-19. The evolution of COVID-19 dashboards over time is crucial, given their dynamic nature. A broader range of indicators may assist in better monitoring the impact of COVID-19 on the economy and society. To curb the epidemic, it is crucial to integrate data from social, economic, and health sectors. During a crisis such as this, dashboards must include features that facilitate their use by people with disabilities.
2023-06-05T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Information Systems and Digital Technologies https://journals.iium.edu.my/kict/index.php/jisdt/article/view/339 DATA SCORING INDICATOR: QUANTIZING FORMULATION 2023-03-13T15:58:50+08:00 NOR IZHAM SUBRI izham@kuips.edu.my ABDUL GHAFUR HANAFI ghafur@kuips.edu.my MUHD ZAKI SHAHABUDDIN mzaki@kuips.edu.my IZWAN NURLI MAT BISTAMAN izwan@kuips.edu.my
When a subjective form of the topic needs to be investigated, qualitative research has been a popular choice among researchers. However, when it comes to qualitative data analysis, there are just a few methods. The goal of this study is to look into the gap between qualitative data analysis methods and come up with an alternative method for qualitative research. A hybrid Approach with Survey and Rapid Application Development will be employed as the research methodology (RAD). A prototype formula will be created, and the data from the survey will be tested using the formula to determine whether the data is positive, negative, or neutral. The data will next be analysed to determine whether the survey is inclined towards a positive, negative, or neutral outcome. The result can be studied objectively rather than subjectively by transforming qualitative data into quantitative data. As a result, we propose this study to look into the capabilities and potential of this novel method as a viable qualitative methodology. The developed formula will be shown to be capable of transforming qualitative into quantitative at the conclusion of this study.
2023-06-05T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Information Systems and Digital Technologies https://journals.iium.edu.my/kict/index.php/jisdt/article/view/337 EXPLORING THE IMPACT OF DIGITAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION AMONG GRADUATES IN BANGLADESH 2022-07-17T22:56:33+08:00 ABDULLAH AL-MAMUN almamunbd2727@gmail.com Akeem Olowolayemo akeem@iium.edu.my Sharyar Wani sharyarwani@iium.edu.my Aidrina Sofiadin aidrina@iium.edu.my
Unemployment, especially among graduates, is a big issue not only in individual countries but also globally. Digital entrepreneurship is proposed as a way to mitigate, if not completely remove, the hardships of unemployment for both individuals and governments. It has been demonstrated that becoming an entrepreneur is a conscious decision that necessitates a great deal of thought and planning. The current study incorporates cognitive and behavioural school of thought principles to develop a model that connects digital entrepreneurship education to graduate entrepreneurial intention. The attribute approach appears to imply that entrepreneurship is a privilege associated with certain characteristics, and digital entrepreneurship education will assist in the development of entrepreneurs. In light of the above findings, the current study examined the impact of digital entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurship among Bangladeshi graduates using the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB). The proposed framework illustrates that entrepreneurship education is a conscious strategy and that there is a link between digital entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurship intention, which is mediated by personal attitude (PA),subjective norm (SN), perceived behavioural control (PBC), and entrepreneurial decision (ED). This study employs a quantitative approach to address a methodological gap in the literature, which usually evaluates simply entrepreneurship intention instead of the actual process of entrepreneurship. Data were collected from several university students representing several study disciplines in Bangladesh and structural equation modelling was used to test the hypothesized model and structural relationships. The empirical findings and recommendations show that graduates' entrepreneurial intentions have a positive impact on their attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioural control, and entrepreneurial intentions, and that this information can assist policymakers, government officials, entrepreneurship experts, and lecturers decide to include digital entrepreneurship courses in higher education institutions.
2022-12-01T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Journal of Information Systems and Digital Technologies https://journals.iium.edu.my/kict/index.php/jisdt/article/view/325 A CONCEPTUAL BARBER-GERAK BUSINESS MODEL: BUILD-UP SKILLS AND ENHANCE JOB OPPORTUNITIES AS BARBER-PRENEURS FOR THE UNDEREMPLOYED, UNEMPLOYED, AND B40 COMMUNITY 2022-08-30T11:42:48+08:00 AHMAD HUZAIFI AHMAD AZAHRI ujaiahmad@gmail.com AHMAD LOOTPHEE DZULKAMAL lootphee@gmail.com MUHAMMAD ZULKHAIRIL HAFIZ ROSKEMAN mzkhafiz@gmail.com ABDUL RAHMAN AHMAD DAHLAN arad@iium.edu.my
The purpose of this paper is to develop a conceptual multi-sided platform business model including an app that shows the availability of a barber service called Barber-Gerak. This platform will be created in order to address the key challenges that have been faced by various customer segments (CS) such as the difficulty in finding decent quality barbering services with reasonable prices, and the unavailability of the services needed outside of office hours. Due to this, customers usually find themselves conflicted to get certain services they want. The extreme pain faced by barbers is the difficulty to reach customers at their own home. As for the B40 community, most of them are unemployed or under-employed due to the after effect of the pandemic. The gain from this platform is to find first quality barber services in society. A user friendly digital platform needs to be developed using certain programming languages. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) mapped to this paper are SDG 8 which is Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 1 which is No Poverty. The methodology that will be used is the Design Thinking method where it is used to define the key challenges and extreme pains, and provide a suitable solution for that challenges and problems. Hence, this paper offers a possible conceptual and sustainable solution via multi-sided platform business model and digital platform/app for the underemployed, the unemployed, and the B40 community as barber-preneurs.
2023-06-05T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Information Systems and Digital Technologies https://journals.iium.edu.my/kict/index.php/jisdt/article/view/323 A CONCEPTUAL I-GRICULTURE BUSINESS MODEL: STRENGTHENING FOOD SECURITY AND NURTURING B40 AGRO-PRENEURS 2022-08-30T11:45:40+08:00 NUR AISYAH NORAZMAN nuraisyahnorazman182011@gmail.com MOHAMAD FAISAL MOHD HANAFI asbourne1998@gmail.com NUR SARAH SAJIDAH MOHD HASRI nabilsarah451@gmail.com SYAHMI AMIN sr.syahmi@gmail.com ABDUL RAHMAN AHMAD DAHLAN arad@iium.edu.my
The importance of agriculture is often overlooked even though it is in fact among the areas that have a vital role in ensuring the availability of food supply and raw materials to resource-based industries. Lack of support and exposure to this field can cause the agriculture sector to be dim, and this can result in a lack of food production and raw materials in our country, which are basic necessities needed in ensuring the livelihood of the community. Furthermore, there are B40 families who struggle to get adequate food supplies, and this can happen due to their low income, under-employment or unemployment factors. This challenge can be overcome by encouraging B40s to venture into agriculture, utilizing underutilized land, and supporting them to start businesses as agropreneurs. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to develop a conceptual business model including a digital platform and applications as an effort to facilitate and support B40s, farmers, and the public as agropreneurs. By supporting them, two of the goals of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which can be achieved are SDG 2: Zero Hunger (end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture) and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth (promoting productive work and decent work for all). This paper adapted the Design Thinking (DT) methodology which helps in understanding the key problems and challenges of various customer segments (CS) before viable solutions are formulated and made, which includes conducting literature reviews, benchmarking, surveys on CS, low-fidelity prototyping, and testing potential solutions. Furthermore, an initial conceptual business model (BM) was developed using several business modeling tools, which are Environmental Map (EM), Business Model Canvas (BMC), Value Proposition Design Canvas (VPC), and Strategy Canvas (SC) which were then tested and validated by various CS. Thus, a validated conceptual BM including a low-fidelity prototype, as the possible solution is offered in this paper.
2023-06-05T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Information Systems and Digital Technologies https://journals.iium.edu.my/kict/index.php/jisdt/article/view/322 A CONCEPTUAL DESIGN MY FASHION MULTI-SIDED BUSINESS MODEL: ENHANCE JOB OPPORTUNITIES, UPSKILLING AND RESKILLING B40 COMMUNITY INTO FASHIONPRENEURS 2022-05-03T21:09:22+08:00 A'isyah Irfan nuraisyahirfan00@gmail.com Aisyah Azizi nuraisyahmusyirah@gmail.com Sarah Zulhairy sarah.zulhairy09@gmail.com Hannani Mohammad nurulaimihannani@gmail.com Abdul Rahman Dahlan arad@iium.edu.my
The purpose of this conceptual paper is to provide a one-stop clothing center that assembles different types of apparel products or services on a digital platform and in physical stores aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in no poverty, decent work, economic and growth and responsible consumption and production. The global pandemic has made our circumstances challenging, particularly financially. The population most affected is the B40 community, commonly known as the Bottom 40%, whose household income is less than RM4,850. With the Movement Control Order, the majority of the businesses were shut down and this has had an effect on commercial retailers as well. This paper also highlights the pains and challenges faced by the customer segments, the B40 community, unemployed/ retrenched workers, commercial retail customers, donors, and clothing service providers. The Design Thinking (DT) process was applied as the methodology that includes the literature review and the usage of tools like Business Model Canvas (BMC) and Value Proposition Canvas (VPC). This paper also aims to provide customers with trendy and variety choices of clothes and style senses that also promote and encourage people to recycle their unused clothes. In addition, through reskilling and upskilling the B40 community, especially along with the unemployed workers, can gain relevant skills and nurture themselves to be environmental fashionpreneurs.
2022-12-01T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Journal of Information Systems and Digital Technologies
