The paper employs the intertextuality theory and features the work of orientalist Hava Lazarus-Yafeh, “Intertwined Worlds: Medieval Islam and Bible Criticism.” This book asserts that Al-Samaw’al developed the critical ideas of Ibn Hazm and focuses on three topics; abrogation, falsification and lack of reliable transmission. In turn, this study examines these three topics and the intertextuality between the two critics. To achieve this, the paper answers two key questions; had al-Samaw’al been familiar with the critical works of Ibn Hazm? And how accurate is the claim that Al-Samaw’al developed the critical ideas of Ibn Hazm? The paper concludes that the intertextuality between these critics affirms that al-Samaw’al was influenced by Ibn Hazm either by reading his works or reading secondary sources that reflected the ideas of Ibn Hazm in the fifth Hijri century.

Key words: Islamic criticism, Bible, Ibn Hazm Al-Andalusi, al-Samaw’al al-Maghribi, intertextuality theory.
}, number={49}, journal={At-Tajdid - Intellectual Refereed Journal}, author={(نبيل عبده أحمد) Nabil Abdo Ahmed and (إبراهيم محمد زين) Ibrahim Mohamed Zain}, year={2021}, month={Jan.}, pages={77–117} }
