Call for Papers: Journal of Islam in Asia Special Issue, August 2018

Journal of Islam in Asia is a highly respected journal listed in MyCite by the Malaysia Citation Centre (MCC) and since it is an open-access journal, it has greater visibility and a large global readership. The Journal invites submissions for a special issue on Integration of Islamic Revealed Knowledge into Human and Social Sciences (IIRKHSc) to be published in August 2018.

Decades have passed since the idea of Islamization of contemporary human knowledge was put forward by Al-Attas and championed by Faruqi, and in that time there has been tremendous efforts undertaken to emphasize the need for Islamization of knowledge as a viable solution to challenges faced by the Muslim ummah, and to promote research and development of Human and Social Sciences from the perspective of the Qur’an and Sunnah. However, much of the discussion on Islamization and integration of knowledge has been from a theoretical perspective. This remains crucial for understanding the concept of integration of knowledge, and the understanding of the Islamic philosophical foundations of each field of Human and Social Sciences. In addition to these areas, there is an urgent need for new analysis of and discoveries from the Qur’an and Sunnah to make available new scholarship on integration of Islamic Revealed Knowledge into Human and Social Sciences and to demonstrate the relevance and significance of IIRKHSc. It is high time to conduct and publish findings of empirical research on the integration between knowledge from Qur’an and/or hadith and any other field of the Human and Social Sciences.

Journal of Islam in Asia invites submissions on various topics pertaining to Human and Social Sciences developed from the Qur’an and hadith. Preference will be given to papers which discuss empirical research. Possible topics and areas of focus may include, but are not restricted to:

– Psychology

– Counselling

– Communication

– Education including educational psychology, curriculum and instruction, assessment

– Sociology, human rights and social work

– Professional, business and environmental ethics

  • Literature and cultural studies
  • Politics and International Relations

Journal of Islam in Asia invites engaging, passionate and well-researched essays that cover some of the abovementioned issues or any other topic related to Humanities and Social Sciences. It also seeks to showcase research on evaluation of intervention programs developed as a result of the analysis of Qur’an and Sunnah, and so encourages authors and practitioners to submit their unpublished papers for the issue.
